Iran is the host of the most various handicraft industries of the world, covering 24 major categories and about 370 subcategories. The main Iranian handicrafts are as follow:
Textiles (hand loom, knitting, needlework, hand printed), hand woven, felting, pottery and ceramic, glass work, leather work, metal work, engraving, latticework, metal etching, stone work (carving, inlay and engraving), wood work (inlay, carving and lattice work), handmade straw matting, marquetry, wood inlaying, tile making, filigree, enameling, making of fine and decorative crafts, jewelry and other crafts.
Mina Kari (Mina Kari)
is the art of coloring and ornamenting the surface of metals by fusing over it brilliant colors that are decorated in an intricate design. Enamel working and decorating metals with colorful and baked coats is one of the distinguished courses of art in Isfahan. Persian Enamel handicrafts can be used as wall hanging plates, home decor and candy dishes.
by the use of copper object on parts of the surface of which small pieces of turquoise are set in mosaic fashion thus giving the object a brilliant appearance. The production of Turquoise Inlaying includes two general stages: Goldsmith includes the preparation of the object intended for Turquoise Inlaying and then using turquoise chips in the surface area of the object.
Engraving (Ghalam Zani)
is the art of carving unique designs on different metals such as copper, brass, silver and gold. Isfahan is the main center for engraving. The artistic work of this course made by the artists is the glorious and undeniable indication of previous metal work of Iran and Isfahan.
A Persian Miniature
is a delicate handmade painting on paper or more specifically on piece of camel bone. The workshop tradition and division of labor in an individual miniature complicates the attribution of paintings.
Textile printing, patterned Iranian Fabric. The fabric is depicted using patterned wooden stamps made of pear wood which has better flexibility and density for carving and long-standing utility.
